JOHN

Magick Mountain + Coded Marking + Fuzz Lightyear + Emily Pilbeam (BBC Introducing)

“A supremely hefty, tubthumping stomp.” - The Guardian

“A great leap forward in their songwriting, with stronger, more nuanced material...now could be their time.” The Observer

“They sound as vital as their touring partners [Idles] and others such as Shame and Fontaines D.C. in the current crop of punk… virtually any song suggests a revolution is rapidly heading your way.” Record Collector

“Invigorating punk/metal workouts and a burning thematic focus on modern political issues, delivered with appropriate levels of indignant fury.” - Uncut

“They are at their best when angrily belting out dystopian lyrics and sawing riffs like on the future live hit ‘Sibensko Powerhouse’.” - The Wire

Having accompanied the release of their acclaimed third album Nocturnal Manoeuvres (released on Brace Yourself/Pets Care Records in October 2021 and landing in the top 75 of the UK albums chart) with extensive touring across the UK & Ireland, the cryptically-named duo JOHN - comprised of John Newton (drums, lead vocals) and Johnny Healey (guitar, backing vocals) - announced three statement dates whilst on stage celebrating the anniversary of Mclusky’s Do Dallas last night at London’s Electric Ballroom.

The band will present a series of special events under the banner of OTHER MANOEUVRES, which will involve three creative line-ups put together by the band. The first guests to be announced are Brighton-based DITZ who will join for the London show on Nov 19th at Oval Space - having recently released their debut album The Great Regression, a collection built on industrial noise and haunting hooks. Other special guests will be announced throughout the year in the run-up to the event.
