Brudenell Piano Sessions presents...
Brudenell Piano Sessions x Leeds Int'l Piano Competition
with Lottie Sadd, Jake Mehew & more
After an enforced hiatus, Brudenell Piano Sessions return for our first event since January 2020, with a special collaborative event with Leeds International Piano Competition, taking place at Brudenell Social Club on Sunday 12th September.
We are delighted to partner with a long-term centrepiece of Leeds’ cultural scene, putting the city on the global cultural map for over 50 years. Working alongside the Piano Trail (https://www.leedspiano.com/piano-trail-2021/), this Piano Session seeks to combine Leeds’ standing on a global stage by promoting the music being created and performed for the piano on a local level. We are proud of our city, it’s cultural vibrancy and diversity, and we are so pleased to have the opportunity to shout even louder about it whilst the eyes of the musical world are on Leeds.
This bumper event will feature four performances, including three local artists: Lottie Sadd, an interdisciplinary composer working across electronics, field recordings and improvisation; Josephine Sillars, a piano-based singer-songwriter; and Jake Mehew, a producer, performer and improviser. These local acts will be joined by Bristol-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and composer Mara Simpson performing a piano-centred set.
Hosted and curated by Simeon Walker, this first event back will be one of the most musically diverse Piano Sessions’ to date, and we are so looking forward to welcoming you back to the Brudenell for an intimate evening around the piano; something we have dearly missed doing. Taking place on the middle weekend of the competition, this event pivots around extended performances by some of our performers (and many others) on the Piano Trail, based on pianos around the city centre, alongside numerous other events, activities and installations, in a clear demonstration that music is for everyone.
After the turbulent times we have experienced, we hope you will join us at the Brudenell - with the usual, pay what you can entry - for a wonderful evening.
