Blanck Mass
“. . . he's creating his own strain of technological utopianism.” – Pitchfork
“Listening to Power’s music is like being knocked for six by a groundswell.” – FACT
Blanck Mass is the solo project of Benjamin John Power. The Fuck Buttons musician, making music under the moniker since 2010, has now signed to Sacred Bones for the project's next album.
In anticipation, he shares his remix of director John Carpenter's track “Fallen”, which is featured on the director's deluxe digital debut album Lost Themes – available today in the UK and tomorrow (2/3) in the US. Listen to “Fallen (Blanck Mass Remix)” HERE.
Ben’s self-titled debut was released on Mogwai’s Rock Action in 2011. Described by FACT Magazine as “simultaneously soothing and sweepingly grandiose, esoteric and surprisingly accessible”, the album was an elegant, introspective departure from the stadium electronica he had become known for. In 2012, “Sundowner” – the second track from the album – soundtracked the London Olympics Opening Ceremony. The song was chosen by Underworld’s Rick Smith and performed by London’s Symphony Orchestra to 900 million people worldwide.
Beyond his personal work, Ben has taken his collaborations cross media. He supported Sigur Ros on their colossal 2013 world tour, provided remixes for Mogwai’s Music Industry 3. Fitness Industry 1. and most recently here for John Carpenter’s Lost Themes.
