OBN IIIs

Let me make it crystal clear: OBN III’s are the real deal. A self-sustained force of nature with honest energy, their brute force and integrity define their particular wollop. Nobody leaves a show, or a turntable like, “hey…that was ok”. No! It fucking rules. And this integrity and hard work has been roping in necks with each swinging microphone. But you think this praise inflates anyone’s ego? Hell no. If one band totally exemplifies the lack of pretense that heavy rock was built on, it’s OBN III’s. And this level of drunken gravitas is exactly what permeates their world while leveling others like a bulldozer. Harkening back to a statement on the “Casual Victim Pile” compilation, the bands’ track “Do My Thing” says it all. What’s great is that “their thing” is a heavy Sabbath weight fused with pure punk snot and actual talent to deliver great songs you want to spin over and over. Party records…ragers. And an atidote to the here and the now, a time and place rife with neon plastic rock, where OBN III’s become even more of a necessity…a raging new wind.  In this context their uncut potency only becomes more obvious. A certain remedy for the ennui en masse that results from too much worshipping of smokestacks and gray plumes of gray “music”. OBN III’s are a heavy beating pulse of life, wailing and flailing violently in the name of fun, with heavy riffs and blistering solos, all drenched in whiskey and beer. Simply a great band, and a pure band. Their shows and records speak for themselves. They leave it all out on the floor, love it or hate it, they’re having a blast with it “doing their thing”. Now with their third album due out on 5/27/14, this next wave is looking even stronger…a definitive new mode for OBN III’s, and hitting their full stride at last with the best rendering yet of their live energy captured to tape.
