Brudenell Presents...
The Temperance Movement
plus guest support
The Temperance Movement are 5 musicians who came together at the end of 2011 to realise the band they had each promised themselves they would one day be a part of. They are born out of previous musical incarnations wrecked by bad management, drugs, and a frustration with todays pop music and bands that rock but don't roll. They're here to bring ear wringing, heart wrenching live music back to the masses.
After a few months of overnight bus journeys, writing songs and jamming together they were ready to play their first shows in London and Phil's home town of Glasgow. Word got out, crowds got bigger, the band continued to write and record demos. In the spring of 2012 they booked sometime in a studio and started to record with one goal in mind, to capture the energy of their live shows. They all set up in the same room and committed themselves straight to tape. They had 4 days and 15 channels to work with (the tape machine had 16 but one was broken). They emerged with an albums worth of material.
That September they released 5 of the tracks from those 'Fish Factory' sessions as the 'Pride EP'. Rave reviews flooded in and comparisons to the bands they are influenced by were drawn. Some call it a British Black Crowes, others identify the sonic common ground with Jack White. They're the heart of Neil Young with the soul of Free. They come from the same stable of British Rock and Roll as The Faces and The Stones and join the likes of Alabama Shakes and Mumford and Sons in a crusade to make live music honest again.
The band finished 2012 by being invited to play the Royal Albert Hall alongside members of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. They began 2013 with a sell out show at the London Borderline and an invitation to join Bruce Springsteen, The Black Crowes and Alabama Shakes on the line-up for Hard Rock Calling at the Olympic Park in London, this June. They knew it was time to book more shows and their first UK tour sold out almost immediately. After a 40 date tour across the UK and Scandinavia they now count rock- royalty, fashionistas and tastemakers amongst their admirers.
