Mazes

Mazes have been busy recording their forthcoming album and have just announced a tour at the end of the July, (there are more dates that will be announced closer to the time) They will be playing material from the new album, expected for release at the end of this year. Jack Cooper, Mazes frontman, had this to say:

"Towards the end of last year, after a considerable amount of time on the road, our thoughts turned to recording a second album. Around that time, Jarin left, and like any big change, good or bad, it was a catalyst for something new. We were all fairly content with the first record but there were things about the recording process and the record itself that disappointed us. Personally, I've been disappointed with every single thing we've done it's normal. We spoke about recording something that represented our record collections something denser maybe? Not a garage rock record. We used our advance to add to our equipment haul and set about making a record in my flat, in our tiny rehearsal room and at various pubs and spaces around Hackney. Mainly at my flat though, leads snaking around the hallway, over Hype Williams and Grateful Dead LPs and into the bathroom. Conan sat on my bed recording bass. The vocal booth is a cupboard. Fun and free to indulge in experiments, it's been the most rewarding recording experience because it feels completely organic and liberating. I think we've made something really cool."
