Castle Talk is Screaming Females (guitarist/vocals Marissa Paternoster, drummer Jarrett Dougherty and bassist Mike Abbate) new album. Recorded at the Hunt Studio in New Jersey, USA with engineer, Eric Bennett and released on September 13th via Don Giovanni, the band are possessed of the ethos, drive, and spirit that has made the punk greats great during a time when fewer and fewer artists have the gumption to operate as such.

Last year, Screaming Females toured relentlessly in support of their critically acclaimed third album Power Move. Their hard work landed them spots opening for Dinosaur Jr., Throwing Muses, and Jay Reatard, plus dates touring with Arctic Monkeys and The Dead Weather.

The year brought them to a wider mainstream consciousness, gaining attention for their punk rock sensibilities and their raucous live shows driven by front woman Marissa Paternosters famed guitar heroics. But Screaming Females success did not come overnight: it came after four years of playing over 300 self-booked shows at non-traditional show spaces, sleeping on floors around the USA, self-releasing their first two albums, and breathing new life into the New Brunswick, New Jersey DIY basement show circuit. On the forthcoming album, Castle Talk, the trio proves their abilities extend beyond their pint-sized guitar shredder. Castle Talk showcases their growth together as a unit, as a band, with some of their most complex and confident songwriting to date. After a successful Europe/UK tour in Fall 2010 incl. 4 shows at Primavera Club, Screaming Females will be back in Europe in Fall 2011, and we have one on the special shows lined up right here!

A rowdily melodious squall of surging hooks and new-wavey hollering from this hotshot New Jersey popcore trio. Frontwoman Marissa Paternosters broad-and-deep guitar style packs new album Castle Talk full of surprises; here she flips seamlessly from glassy jangles to Dinosaur Jr-style freakouts with terrific force and flair. - Tom Hughes, The Guardian

Marisa Paternoster is the biggest and mightiest tornado in the smallest of packages! Shes a wee girl at maybe 5 feet tall looking like a mashup of Carrie Brownstein and Bjork with a flair for style a la Wednesday Adams. However, her stature doesnt stop her from banging out every note on the neck of her guitar faster than Twista can say The Gettysburg Address!! She made her guitar freak out with notes flying everywhere!! It was like she slit that guitars neck clear off its body and then it screeeeeeaaaammmmed as her hand sliced across it, soaring back up and down again!! Her vocals spat and snarled, punctuated by mighty screams that made my eyes widen in awe of her. I cant go on. Im exhausted just thinking about it. You just have to go see them. Its worth the internal bleeding you will suffer from dancing in full body whiplash mode. - LA Music Blog
