Having picked up a string of awards as a slam poet (including BBC Radio 4 Slam Champion and Farrago UK Slam Champion) and made his name on stages around the world as frontman for the hiphop band Bad Science, rapper, singer and multi-instrumentalist Dizraeli has gone solo to craft his very own album. 'Engurland (City Shanties)' draws on sea shanties, gospel and blues to create a form of hiphop that speaks for the streets and the valleys in equal measures: a folk music for the 21st century, telling English stories of love and grief and defiance.

The album also marks the birth of a new band, The Small Gods- a blindingly gifted set of musicians featuring the steel-string genius of composer-guitarist Lee Westwood, the voice of Cate Ferris (who has worked extensively with Martha Tilston), and the astonishing Bellatrix (Female Beatbox World Champion) on beatbox and double bass. Combining the virtuoso musicianship of old folk music with the improvised wildness of hiphop, Dizraeli and the Small Gods toured the UK in the autumn of 2009. They raised smiles, knees and eyebrows from Londons Cargo to the Eden Project, Cornwall. Join the movement!
