Washington Irving
plus guest support The Ramblers + Sian Alexandra (Opie Deino)
Washington Irving's Northern Scottish heritage is readily apparent in their intense, engaging brand of Folk Rock.
Taking influence from the likes of Arcade Fire, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and Neutral Milk Hotel, their experimentations with the genre have led to the creation of a powerful and uplifting sound; frenzied instrumentation serving as a raw and inspired backdrop to beguiling hooks, raucous gang chants, and vocalist Joe Black's cracking growl and poetic lyrics. The songs themselves tell stories of love, death and madness, in an invigoratingly anthemic manner.
This potent formula has led to support from the likes of Vic Galloway, Ally McCrae and Tom Robinson, as well as performances at T in the Park, Camp Bestival and Hop Farm.
2013 has already seen the band sell out Oran Mor in Glasgow, tour with Frightened Rabbit and unleash their first batch of recorded material as a five-piece. It is a year in which their visceral and often fevered live performances are set to instill delight (and quite possibly inebriation) in audiences all over the country, building on their already fervent following.
Be prepared to see Washington Irving headlining festivals very soon. The Scotsman
