Littlemores
Littlemores are a York based guitar band who have garnered airplay on BBC 6Music, BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 1; and won of York Battle of the Bands 2010.
Intelligent guitar-pop with a beating heart and lyrics of astute intelligence. They say what they feel, not what convention dictates, and therefore their music carries an integrity and honest embrace that is sorely missing from most current UK guitar bands. The softer side of Arctic Monkeys; the stonier path of The Maccabees. - Highly recommended. - David Edwards (Drowned in Sound)
Within minutes of Littlemores opening their set at The Cockpit theyve grabbed the crowds attention. From the opening blasts the songs bound along with well measured guitar accents adding depth to tracks carried high on a tight rhythm section. Expertly delivered despite the best efforts of an unruly mic stand, it feels like the music world could do much worse than seeing more of these lads. - Tom Aspbury (Counterfit Magazine @ The Cockpit)
Brass and northern brilliance in the lyrics - Jenny Eells (BBC York Introducing)
Littlemores second EP is due for release late spring.
The Lottery Winners
Born in Salford and raised on romance, The Lottery Winners can be found pottering somewhere in-between the blithe of the Beach Boys and the suffering of the Smiths.
The indie-jangle-pop quartet provides a melodramatic blend of momentous melodies, coupled with wistful and insightful lyrics. Although the band have played extensively live, supporting the likes of The Futureheads, The Charlatans and The Enemy and building up a very loyal and devoted family of fans, its very much the beginning of the journey for The Lottery Winners, who refuse to subscribe to the fifteen minute, ramshackle, faddy band approach to making music.
Debut EP, Somebody Loved You, houses five tracks which bassist Katie Lloyd says manifests everything that has happened to the band in the time weve been together, particularly this last year, which has been a somewhat difficult, yet rewarding year, and spits them out into three minute pop chanters.
The Lottery Winners single Elizabeth is released April 22nd.
