Michael was the front man from pioneering Americana band, The Good Sons, now making solo records he is a singer and songwriter known for his lyrical and melancholic songs, his sonorous voice, as well as his dry, on-stage humor.

Some of King's major influences are Tim Hardin, Townes Van Zandt, Phil Ochs, Elvis Costello, Roy Orbison, Hank Williams, George Jones. His best-known songs, to date, include "Tim Hardin '65", "Riding The Range", "Mathilda", "A Decent Man", "Lay Me Down", "Celestial City", "My Heart Stopped Today", "I Fall Behind", and "It Will End In Tears".
