The Haggis Horns

plus Lack of Afro

The infamous Haggis Horns hardly need any introduction, having been at the forefront of the UK funk scene since they came to our attention on the legendary album "Keb Darge Presents The New Mastersounds". Having formed after meeting at Leeds Music College they have two funkfuelled albums under their belt, 'Hot Damn!' & 'Keep On Movin' ' (First Word Records) and they have been rocking crowds the world over for years winning fans with their distinctive northern funk sound combining ass-shaking break-beats, afrobeat, soul and hip-hop.

Having long been first call, in demand, session musicians, they have recently went back to their roots and have a new streamlined, leaner and meaner band. Now going out as a six piece based around the nucleus of Atholl Ransome on saxes/flute/perc/vocals and Malcolm Strachan on trumpet/flugelhorn/perc/vocals, they have enlisted the help of Dan Goldman (aka JD73) on keyboards and Kenny Higgins on bass to add a new depth to the sound of Luke Flowers on drums and Ben Barker on guitar/vocals, complementing the power and finesse of the horns. This new rawer sound is the perfect setting for their original hits and new material to get any dance floor jumping - a band at the top of their game!

The members of The Haggis Horns have performed with the likes of Jamiroquai, John Legend & The Roots, Amy Winehouse, Morcheeba, Roots Manuva, Lou Donaldson, Elbow, Nightmares On Wax, Dennis Coffey, Adele, Corinne Bailey Rae, Mark Ronson, Robbie Williams, Duran Duran, Craig Charles Presents The Fantasy Funk Band, The Cinematic Orchestra, Martina Topley-Bird, Kano, Estelle, Lily Allen, KT Tunstall & Snowboy, to name a few!

The Haggis Horns are:
From L - R : Luke Flowers (Drums), Atholl Ransome (Saxes/Flute/Vocals/Percussion), Ben Barker (Guitar/Vocals), Malcolm Strachan (Trumpet/Vocals/Percussion), Dan Goldman (Keyboards), Kenny Higgins (Bass)
