Bettakultcha

- The Importance of Failure - a Bettakultcha Experiment!

How many useful discoveries were made by accident from failed experiments? Bettakultcha has never had a theme, until now

Learning something through play is one of the most rewarding experiences we can have. We hope to learn something from this event - we've got an idea of what that thing might be but we're open to happy accidents. Come with an open mind and remember what it was like being a curious child in a sandpit. You don't have to be an adult all your life.

So far Bettakultcha has stuck to the rule of "We don't theme Bettakultcha" but you know what, rules are made to be broken, so that's what we've done. Here's the first themed Bettakultcha; The Importance of Failure.

And hey if it doesn't work, and we 'fail', well that just proves the whole point of the evening and we've learned something!

This event will move away from the standard format. Presenters will share their personal stories of development and the things that went wrong so you dont have to repeat their mistakes. Each of their stories will last for up to five minutes. They will be passionate about wanting to communicate their hard earned knowledge with you. The real secret about achieving success in life is this: It's is not about competing; its about co-operating and community.

The presenters don't have to use slides! Yes you read that correctly - They don't have to use slides.

What is Bettakultcha worth to you?

In the spirit of trying things which might not work, we also thought we'd have a play with the tickets. So take your pick.

Pay what you can afford

Stick to the tried and trusted fiver

Go all out and snap up the 30 tickets! (we may include crisps and a drink!)

All the speakers have been invited for tonight, so there's another little experiment. If you'd like to get involved we will still have the Random Challenge at the end. Feel free to volunteer before the night by emailing bettakultcha@gmail.com

Just what is 'usual' Bettakultcha?

Bettakultcha is an evening of short talks accompanied by digital slide presentations. The presenters are all volunteers who have based their talk around something that they are passionate about which can be absolutely anything. Weve had talks about, robot sex, the day job of Tin Tin, free software and how to survive frostbite, to name but a few, but they must all follow these simple rules;

ABSOLUTELY no sales pitches20 slides must be usedEach slide must last for 15 seconds exactlyAfter 5 minutes, the presentation is overIts a simple enough concept but the result is incredibly fascinating.

Who are the presenters?

They are volunteers. Many are people who have attended a Bettakultcha event and have been inspired to tell the world about their particular passion anyone can have a go. There is no hierarchy at Bettakultcha. The presenters step up from the audience and when they finish, they step back into the audience.
